摘要: Abstract This work aimed to understand the anaerobic BTEX removal in continuous-flow bioreactors for ex situ bioremediation purposes, evaluating effect of some operational parameters on efficiency, stability and microbial community structure. The influence hydraulic retention time, effluent recirculation co-substrate (ethanol) concentration was investigated a mesophilic UASB bioreactor operated under methanogenic conditions. changes bacterial archaeal communities were evaluated terms diversity, evenness richness. Good (∼63%) reactor could still be reached at HRT 24 h. impact not evident high concentrations, but it significant when low concentrations applied. reduction ethanol had positive (from 80% 86%), especially benzene 51% 62%). optimal degree likely contributed relatively system removal. Changes observed richness did match with functioning system. However, dynamics seemed importance maintaining stable performance.
