On the wind power rejection in the islands of Crete and Rhodes

摘要: Crete and Rhodes represent the two biggest isolated power systems in Greece. The energy production both islands is based on thermal plants.The annual wind rejection percentage calculated for this paper. rejected defined as electric produced by turbines not absorbed utility network, mainly due to system’s stability dynamic security reasons. A parametric calculation of percentage, terms installed power, demand maximum allowed instant penetration accomplished. methodology takes into account (i) probability, restricted generators technical minima over demand; (ii) derived islands’ potential. present paper indicates that which are plants have a limited installation capacity—in order achieve maintain an adequate level system stability. For 30% demand, ensure less than 10%, total should exceed 40% mean demand. results applicable medium great size systems, with particular features: plants; exhibits intensive seasonal variations uncorrelated data; (iii) greater 10 MW; (iv) high potential, presenting velocity values 7·5 m s −1 , recorded.
