摘要: Chronic ethanol consumption causes structural and functional reorganization in the hippocampus induces alterations gene expression of gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptors (GABAARs). Distinct forced intermittent exposure models have been used previously to investigate changes GABAAR expression, with contrasting results. Here, we repeated cycles a Intermittent Ethanol paradigm examine relationship between voluntary, dependence-associated consumption, mouse hippocampus. Adult male C57BL/6J mice were exposed four 16-h vapor (or air) inhalation chambers alternated limited-access two-bottle choice (15%) water consumption. The showed significant increases compared their air-matched controls. alpha4 delta subunit measured by qRT-PCR at different stages. There transcript levels time points ethanol-vapor mice, while remained unchanged. Correlated concurrent blood concentrations suggested that mRNA fluctuate depending on intoxication, dependence, withdrawal state. Using vapor-based procedure combined corroborated previous evidences showing discontinuous affects but did not observe subunit. These findings indicate hippocampal transiently over course associated voluntary intake, response ethanol-mediated disturbance GABAergic neurotransmission.
