摘要: Emerging evidence from epidemiological studies supports the notion that maternal folate status regulated by dietary and genetic factors early in pregnancy may influence risk of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In this review, we provide an overview what is known about role aetiology neurodevelopmental disorders; summarise relevant biological, epigenetic mechanisms; synthesise human observational randomised controlled trials have examined relationship between ASD or related traits. Much existing literature on topic subject to limitations such as potential confounding healthy behaviours other factors, exposure assessed within limited windows. As inconclusive, further research remains be conducted order verify hypothesis. Complete assessment functional through pre- peri-conceptional periods requires biological measurement folate, vitamin B12 homocysteine variants involved one-carbon metabolism mechanisms. addition more complete status, careful consideration warranted.
