摘要: Biofuel cells are a next-generation energy device because they use renewable fuels with high density and safety. We have developed passive-type biofuel cell units, which generate power over 100 mW (80 cm3, 39.7 g). Our cell, in two-electron oxidation of glucose four-electron reduction O2 occurs at pH 7 mediated bioelectrochemical processes under quiescent conditions, accomplished the maximum 1.45 ± 0.24 cm−2 0.3 V. This performance was achieved by introducing three technologies: (1) Enzymes mediator densely entrapped on carbon-fiber electrodes enzymatic activity retained, (2) concentration buffer electrolyte solution optimized for immobilized enzymes, (3) cathode structure designed to supply efficiently. The units multi-stacked successfully operate radio-controlled car (16.5 g), demonstrates potential practical applications.
