Growth, alkaloid production, rol genes integration, bioreactor up-scaling and plant regeneration studies in hairy root lines of Catharanthus roseus

摘要: Abstract Fifteen hairy root lines of Catharanthus roseus were compared for growth, alkaloid production and shoot bud regeneration potential in relation to their morphology pattern rol gene(s) integration. These could be classified into 10 distinct morphotypes on the basis thickness branching behaviour. Twelve showed presence both rolB rolC two indicated integration only rolC. Genes rolA, B C detected N5 line. The did not differ significantly total alkaloids content (1.10–1.30% dry wt.) but variations relative concentration ajmalicine (0.007–0.08% wt.), serpentine (0.01–0.08% catharanthine (0.01–0.04% wt.).
