摘要: Aims/hypothesis. Oxidative stress plays an important role in diabetic vascular complications. It has been shown that imbalance the ratio of nitric oxide: superoxide anion, because a prevalence leads to alteration reactivity. In this condition peroxynitrite production, resulting from reaction between oxide and superoxide, could increase. Peroxynitrite is responsible for nitration tyrosine residues proteins. Therefore, presence nitrotyrosine plasma proteins considered indirect evidence production. The aim study was demonstrate patients with Type II (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus correlate its concentrations glucose antioxidant defenses. Methods. A total 40 35 healthy subjects were enrolled, glycaemia, nitrotyrosine, parameter glycated haemoglobin measured. Nitrotyrosine detected by ELISA detection limit 10 nmol/l. Results. found all (means ± SD = 0.251 0.141 μmol/l), whereas it not detectable control subjects. values correlated (r 0.38, p < 0.02) but or haemoglobin. Total reduced (p 0.01). Conclusions. indicates generated diabetes, suggesting possible involvement development [Diabetologia (2001) 44: 834–838]
