摘要: Digenean trematodes have complex life cycles and control of these flatworms can be accomplished by eliminating immature parasite stages from intermediate hosts. In aquaculture systems, presence trematode metacercariae negatively impact fish health lead to economic losses. Posthodiplostomum minimum is a birds that uses bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) as the host commonly found in used stock waterways for recreational purposes. this study, we evaluated killing P. injectable praziquantel naturally infected bluegills. Using propidium iodide staining motility assessment, 5 mg/kg administered intramuscularly was effective killing. However, metacercarial death not apparent until day 7 post-treatment. Our results demonstrated an method detecting recovered treated fish. This at least sensitive objective scoring provided quantitative assessment death. Future studies involving treatment with may need carried out over period weeks order accurately assess would benefit using method.
