摘要: Central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms can be diagnostically challenging, due to remarkably wide ranges in histologic appearance, biologic behavior, and therapeutic approach. Nevertheless, accurate diagnosis is the critical first step providing optimal patient care. As with other oncology-based specialties, there a rapidly expanding interest enthusiasm for identifying utilizing new biomarkers enhance day-to-day practice of surgical neuropathology. In this regard, field primed by recent advances basic research, elucidating molecular mechanisms tumorigenesis progression most common adult pediatric brain tumors. Thus far, few have made transition into routine clinical practice, notable example being 1p 19q testing oligodendroglial However, evolving many are likely emerge as useful ancillary diagnostic, prognostic, or aids. The goal article highlight genetic alterations currently implicated CNS tumors, focusing on those that either already use diagnostics become so near future.
