摘要: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to report the results a national survey that examined extent implementation Health Promoting Schools (HPS) in Ireland. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative research design was adopted. questionnaire administered all post-primary schools country (n=704). Data were analysed with support software packages, SPSS and MaxQDA. Findings – response rate 56 per cent (n=394) achieved. Over half these (56 cent) self-identified as health promoting. reported success areas environment curriculum learning, however, partnerships policy planning required more attention. Some models good practice emerged from data but minority. Many schools, when asked describe promotion their school, placed emphasis on physical (diet exercise) predominately rather than broader whole school conceptualisation. Only 35 HPS had team supporting developments. 36 identified existence HPS. This suggests further coherence for sustained comprehensive necessary. Research limitations/implications – conducted staff, first instance who self-reported school’s level engagement. Originality/value – offers baseline available relation engagement Ireland. It provides valuable starting point which field can be conducted.
