摘要: A number of studies have shown that leucocyte telomere length (LTL) is inversely associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim the present longitudinal cohort study, utilising a twin design, was to assess whether shorter LTL predicts or consequence thereof. Participants were recruited between 1997 2000 through population-based national Danish Twin Registry participate in GEMINAKAR evaluation metabolic disorders cardiovascular risk factors. Baseline follow-up measurements over an average 12 years performed subset consisting 338 (184 monozygotic 154 dizygotic) same-sex pairs. Age at baseline examination 37.4 ± 9.6 (mean ± SD) years. not age-dependent changes (attrition) period, whereas during this period. baseline, more pronounced increase period (p < 0.001); effect additive BMI. co-twin displayed higher than longer LTL. These findings suggest individuals short are likely develop later life. By contrast, presence does accelerate attrition.
