摘要: Stone columns are found to be effective and economical ground improvement technique in soft grounds. Understanding its behaviour when they installed stratified soils, particular the upper layer consists of weak soil, will great practical significance. This paper presents results from a series laboratory plate load tests carried out unit cell tanks investigate stone layered consisting clay overlying relatively stronger silty for various thicknesses top layer. Tests were with two types loading (1) entire area tank loaded, estimate stiffness improved (2) only column limiting axial capacity. Laboratory on 90 mm diameter surrounded by an ratio 15%. It is that depth thickness has significant influence stiffness, bearing capacity bulging behavior columns.
