A nanohybrid of CdTe@CdS nanocrystals and titania nanosheets with p–n nanojunctions for improved visible light-driven hydrogen production

摘要: A nanohybrid photocatalyst composed of CdTe@CdS nanocrystals and single-layered exfoliated titania nanosheets was synthesized through a well-defined restacking approach. The possessed an expanded layered structure, with ultrathin randomly restacked upon each other sandwiched between the nanosheets. introduction not only extended light absorption to visible range, but also formed p–n nanojunctions in nanohybrid. resultant materials containing same amount exhibited over 43 times higher activity than pure for hydrogen production under irradiation (λ > 420 nm) while alone were capable producing any conditions. superior photocatalytic efficiency can be attributed effective charge separation, which is achieved by synergetic effect proper energy bands alignment nanojunctions.
