摘要: We investigated how parents who considered themselves “normally stressed” experienced their first child’s transition to adolescence. Family systems theory provided a theoretical starting point for this qualitative study, which identified intrapersonal, interpersonal, and contextual themes in parents’ stories about experiences. Based on the findings, model was developed that illustrates components of parental experiences seem interrelate. From perspective, parenting an adolescent began with specific, noticeable change teenager, led process adjustment part. Participants viewed as experiencing normal ups downs so descriptions were relatively smooth “rebalancing” process. However, information they suggests several potential interventions may be severe challenges adjusting teenagers.
