摘要: A new type of electrometer is described that uses a single-electron transistor (SET) and allows large operating speeds extremely high charge sensitivity. The SET readout was accomplished by measuring the damping 1.7-gigahertz resonant circuit in which device embedded, some ways electrostatic “dual” well-known radio-frequency superconducting quantum interference device. more than two orders magnitude faster previous devices, with constant gain from dc to greater 100 megahertz. For still-unoptimized device, sensitivity 1.2 × 10 −5 e / hertz obtained at frequency 1.1 megahertz, about an order better typical, 1/ f -noise-limited SET, corresponds energy (in joules per hertz) 41 ℏ.
