摘要: Numerous aminoglycoside resistance genes have been reported in Campylobacter spp. often resembling those from Gram-positive bacterial species and located transferable genetic elements with other genes. We discovered a new streptomycin (STR) gene Campylobactercoli showing 27-34 % amino acid identity to 6-nucleotidyl-transferases described previously Campylobacter. STR was verified by expression insertional inactivation. This ant-like differs the several aspects. It does not appear originate bacteria is region corresponding hypervariable 14 of C. jejuni no known detected close proximity. Finally, it belong multiple drug plasmid or transposon. novel appears widely spread among coli as found strains originating both Europe United States several, apparently unrelated, hosts environmental sources. The closest homologue (60 % identity) certain similar genomic location, but an association detected. Based on findings presented here, we hypothesize that A has originated common ancestral proto-resistance element spp., possibly encoding protein different function. In conclusion, whole genome sequencing allowed us fill knowledge gap concerning revealing inherent
