摘要: We present a new technique for empirically calibrating how the X-ray luminosity function (XLF) of binary (XRB) populations evolves following star-formation event. first utilize detailed stellar population synthesis modeling far-UV to far-IR photometry nearby face-on spiral galaxy M51 construct maps histories (SFHs) on subgalactic (~400 pc) scales. Next, we use ~850 ks cumulative Chandra exposure identify and isolate 2-7 keV detected point sources within galaxy, our SFH recover local properties in which each source is located. then divide into various subregions based their (e.g., rate [SFR] per mass [M*] mass-weighted age) group according characteristics regions they are found. Finally, fit parameterized XLF model that quantifies shape normalization as XRB age. Our best-fit indicates unit declines normalization, by ~3-3.5 dex, steepens slope from ~10 Myr Gyr. find recovers results past studies XLFs scaling relations vary with age provides self-consistent picture
