摘要: BACKGROUND: Tramadol is a synthetic analgesic. Seizures have been reported in patients receiving this drug. In study we evaluated the correlation between tramadol consumption and seizure occurrence. METHODS: Twenty-eight subjects with history of were studied. Electroencephalograms (EEG) performed first 24 hours again one week later. Subjects followed up for mean 18 months after initial attack. RESULTS: In 28 subjects, 26 (92.8%) males 2 (7.2%) females. The age was 28.4 years. Thirteen had abused more than 400 mg/day tramadol. Sixteen concomitantly used other drugs. seizures occurred within intake 25 subjects. EEG abnormal 12 cases, but second only case. Neuroimaging subject displayed patchy white matter lesions. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, neurotoxicity commonly manifests as generalized tonic clonic most frequently common consuming alcohol, illicit drugs, anti-psychotics, or anti-depressants.
