摘要: Congenital brain tumors have been reported infrequently and their management remains ill defined. An 11-year review (1977-1987) of all children with the onset symptoms before 1 year age was completed. Twenty-two following histological diagnoses were treated: astrocytoma (7 patients), primitive neuroectodermal tumor (6 papilloma or carcinoma choroid plexus (3 malignant teratoma (2 dermoid embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (1 patient), chloroma patient). Fifteen supratentorial in location, 7 infratentorial. Initial hydrocephalus (32%), focal neurological deficit (23%), asymptomatic increase head circumference (18%), failure to thrive (14%), seizures (4.5%). The goal treatment a radical excision when possible, primary chemotherapy last 6 years period. Radiation therapy adjunct surgery initial 5-year All patients papillomas lesions underwent total resection no recurrence. astrocytomas supratentorial, occurring diencephalon. Five seven survived more than 5 years. located equally between supra- infratentorial spaces. Four infants these received alone; 2 radiation therapy) are free 9 later.
