摘要: Epigenetic mechanisms involving DNA methylation, histone modifications and noncoding RNAs regulate maintain gene-expression states. Similar to genetic mutations, alterations in epigenetic regulation can lead uncontrolled cell division, tumor initiation growth, invasiveness metastasis. Research brain cancer, particularly gliomas, has uncovered global gene-specific hypomethylation, local hypermethylation of gene promoters the de-regulation microRNA expression. Understanding dysregulation cancers provided new tools for prognostication, as well suggesting approaches therapy. There is significant interest sequencing-based technologies that map comprehensively at high resolution. These methods are being applied tumors, will better define contribution defects tumorigenesis.
