摘要: ERGIC-53 (former designation, p53) is a 53-kDa nonglycosylated, dimeric, and hexameric type I membrane protein that has been established as marker for tubulovesicular intermediate compartment in which transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi apparatus blocked at 15 degrees C. Although not resident of rough its cDNA sequence carries double lysine retention motif cytoplasmically exposed COOH terminus. Here we report overexpression COS cells saturates intracellular system leading appearance cell surface. Cell surface efficiently endocytosed by mechanism disturbed when two critical lysines are replaced serines. The results suggest mechanistic similarity pre-Golgi lysine-based endocytosis.
