摘要: Abstract In a series of 46 patients accepted for cataract removal and intraocular lens implantation, 23 showed visibly obvious variation in endothelial cell size (polymegethism) according to specular microscopic examination. this group, mean increase postoperative corneal thickness was 52.7% on the first day, 35.4% third, 18.0% after 4 weeks. Mean swelling consistently significantly less exhibiting apparently normal patterns (homomegethism). homomegethous corneas, preoperative density correlated with age (inversely) loss (directly). Preoperative polymegethous corneas significant, direct correlation age, suggesting that may remain relatively constant condition. There no loss. Significant differences functional capability identified within each morphologically-defined group indicate structure-function continuum. Since 15 only one cornea returned weeks, it appears clinically valid use morphological criteria predicting capability.
