摘要: Abstract We carried out magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies on human brains which had been fixed in formalin solution for over 2 years and proven neuropathologically to be cases of multiple sclerosis (MS), progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), Balo's concentric (Balo). Using spin echo (SE) inversion recovery (IR) pulse sequences detect demyelinated lesions a living person with MS, the PML Balo definitely re-appeared, although T1 T2 gray white matter were reduced following fixation. High signal areas SE images corresponded not only characteristic distribution but also sparse myelin, gliosis mild perivascular cuffing around foci brains. On IR images, MS plaques evident. This MRI study proved useful elucidate clinicopathological correlations.
