Geometrical tolerance of optical fiber and laser diode for passive alignment using LTCC technology

摘要: The upsurge in the demand for high capacity communication links results a rapid growth field of optical fiber communication. Recent advances satellite communications urge transmission high-frequency signals with minimal losses, and it is regarded that radio-over-fiber solution such broadband analog applications. Considering many advantages offered by low-temperature co-fired ceramics multilayer technology, promising to use this technology passive alignment an laser diode, eventually hybrid-integrated electro-optical modulator microwave frequencies. In paper, we analyzed necessity efficient coupling power into link, based on intensity modulation direct detection. We also estimated tolerance as +/−20 µm, which can be realized exploiting recent ceramic technology.
