摘要: Background: Herbal compounds are attractive anticancer candidates due to their low toxicity. Pervious studies have demonstrated that Hibiscus sabdariffa is promising as an agent against several cancer types; however, its potential therapeutic role in breast remains be investigated. Materials and Methods: In the present study, cytotoxic effects of aqueous extract (HSE) on a human adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7) fetal foreskin fibroblast (HFFF) were Different concentrations water calyces added percentage survival was determined after 24, 48, 72 hours using MTT assay. Apoptosis induction assessed by DNA fragmentation. Results: At concentration 0.5 mg/ml following incubation, number viable MCF-7 cells less than 50%. The not normal HFFF all tested concentrations. Also, HSE induced apoptosis only cells. Conclusions: These results suggest inhibits growth selectively concentration- time-dependent manner. As this herbal substance has been shown nontoxic at very high doses experimental animals, it might good drug candidate for treatment.
