摘要: Abstract This paper discusses the evolving role of coastal GIS vis a vis: (i) inputs from 2000 United Nations Millennium Declaration, 2001 Road Map Towards Implementation UN and 2002 Plan World Summit Sustainable Development (WSSD); (ii) changing approach to integrated management; (iii) increasing use indicators in this field. It concludes by proposing multi-faced embracing ontological arena (changing reality), semiotic (role representations) hermeneutical (production signifieds representations). Coastal will increase effectiveness as science is better able deal with these arenas contextually.
