摘要: This study provides a comprehensive overview of the molecular epidemiology human enterovirus 71 (HEV71) in Asia-Pacific region from 1997 through 2002. Phylogenetic analysis VP4 and VP1 genes recent HEV71 strains indicates that several genogroups virus have been circulating since 1997. The first these outbreaks, described Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) 1997, was caused by genogroup B3. outbreak followed large outbreaks Taiwan 1998, C2, Perth (Western Australia) 1999, where viruses belonging to B3 C2 cocirculated. Singapore, Taiwan, had epidemics 2000, predominantly B4; however, numbers fatalities were observed only Taiwan. identified during an epidemic hand, foot mouth disease Korea; found be due constituting new genogroup, C3.
