摘要: The insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) were discovered based on their capacity to stimulate synthesis of proteoglycans in extracellular matrix (ECM) cartilage (1). During the early years after discovery there multiple articles published showing that they stimulated proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans, and other ECM components (2,3). Similarly, when studies with cultured cells began increases specific proteins such as various types collagen could be by exposure IGF-I (4–7). third point historical note is almost all cell shown responsive are anchorage-dependent cells; therefore, continuously exposed ECM. In spite these findings, connection between stimulation role composition controlling cellular modification its responsiveness was not analyzed.
