摘要: Summary Climate change is a global threat to species, and their capacity adapt could be limited by habitat fragmentation. Many initiatives restore habitats, increase connectivity and/or ensure ‘functioning ecological networks’ are explicitly or implicitly trying address this threat. However, existing methods of analysing networks mainly treat the landscape as static, it difficult use these plan restoration. We recent method approximate speed species’ range expansion through an analogy electrical circuit, which takes into account both rates colonisation between patches at occupied produces new emigrants. Based on this, we propose test two that can help optimise spatial arrangement for expansion. First, high current flowing patch indicates should priority conservation, basis algorithm iteratively dropping least valuable patches. Secondly, power in link bottleneck adding most efficient places. We show perform well variety realistic patterns, assuming known fixed dispersal ability source/target locations. The calculations involved each parameter set fast enough used building blocks larger optimisation practical planning landscapes multiple species. Thus, lay foundation new genre systematic conservation planning, efficiently proposes restoration minimising loss.
