摘要: INTRODUCTION Carnivores are in decline across the world for a variety of reasons, among which conflict with humans is most predominant (Woodroffe 2000). This takes varied forms and involves several carnivore species (see Treves Karanth (2003) recent review). Mitigation such conflicts should be important part any conservation agenda that strives continued coexistence carnivores humans. Among taxa, felids genus Panthera appear to particularly conflict-prone (Rabinowitz 1986; McDougal 1987; Mishra et al. 2003; Ogada 2003). How conservationists can promote cats densely populated countries as India, or generate potentially useful models other regions where human population densities habitat fragmentation levels relatively lower, but rising rapidly, urgent problems. The tiger ( tigris ) felid global concern because its cultural ecological significance (Jackson 1990; 2001; Thapar 2002). Over last three decades, Indian government has used an effective flagship protect wide range biodiversity. Special reserves have been established different biomes India covering mangrove swamps, alluvial grasslands forests deciduous, semi-deciduous evergreen types. However, India's wild populations still under serious threat from impacts prey depletion, poaching, loss (Karanth Stith 1999; Seidensticker al .
