摘要: OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence of HIV and selected sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among men who have sex with (MSM) in Chengdu China risk factors associated infection. METHODS: A cross-sectional study using a snowball sampling method was conducted from March to July 2007. Participants were asked complete questionnaire about sexual history high-risk behaviors STD infection knowledge testing an assessment depression. Blood samples taken for antibody herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) syphilis. RESULTS: total 538 MSM recruited 513 (95.4%) consented questionnaire. HSV-2 syphilis 9.1% 24.7% 28.1% respectively. The rate consistent condom use low varied by types partners. highest casual male partners (38.6%) lowest wife or girl friend (17.8%). Money boys 6 times more likely be infected compared clerks/students. Infection either HSV increased than 4-fold. CONCLUSIONS: prevalences STDs high Chengdu. prevent HIV/STDs campaigns promoting are needed not only boost frequency but also educate proper use.
