Light propagation in a large volume liquid scintillator

摘要: The fluorescence light propagation in a large volume detector based on organic liquid scintillators is discussed. In particular, the effects of fluor radiative transport and solvent Rayleigh scattering are emphasized. These processes have been modelled by ray-tracing Monte Carlo method experimentally investigated Borexino prototype which was 4.3 ton, 4π sensitive detector. comparison between model prediction experimental data shows satisfactory agreement indicating that main aspects these well understood. Some features time response still under study.
