摘要: Purpose. Fibroblast growth factor-binding proteins (FGF-BPs) have been identified recently in blood and other biologic fluids shown to be identical a truncated form of the high-affinity cell surface FGF receptor. The authors examined hypothesis that FGF-BPs also are present human vitreous fluid. Methods. Vitreous fluid obtained from 12 patients was incubated overnight with heparin-Sapharose, FGF-2 heparin-Sepharose, wheat germ agglutinin (WGA)-Sepharose, lectin known bind receptors. precipitated were characterized by immunoblotting using two receptor antibodies raised either extracellular domain FGFR-1 or intracellular FGFR-1. Results. A 70- 85-kd FGF-BP detected each eyes examined. 55-kd six samples. Both 85-kDa 55-kDa heparin-Sepharose but not alone, suggesting interaction dependent on presence FGF-2. bound avidly WGA-Sepharose. Western blot analysis revealed recognized an antibody receptor, indicating they likely portions Conclusions. contains biochemical immunologic characteristics similar These naturally occurring may sequester free cavity modulate activity vitreoretinal diseases
