摘要: In previous research Karis, Fabiani, and Donchin (1984) found a relationship between the amplitude of P300s elicited by words subsequent recall performance. Words later recalled larger than not recalled. However, this was dependent on mnemonic strategies used subjects. There strong P300 when rote rehearsal were used, but subjects elaborative evident. present experiment we employed an incidental memory paradigm to reduce use strategies. An “oddball’ task consisting series names presented, required count either male or female names. Event-related brain potentials recorded presentation each name. Following oddball task, asked, unexpectedly, as many possible. The that had elicited, their initial presentation, Thus, these results confirm our hypothesis: are emerges more consistently. Our data provide support for “context updating’ hypothesis functional significance P300.
