摘要: Adrenomedullin (ADM) promotes epithelial cell proliferation and antimicrobial activity in the gastrointestinal tract. Since ADM is also present saliva, it was objective of our study to investigate role salivary maintenance oral health. We found mRNA for specific receptors CRLR-RAMP2 CRLR-RAMP3 expressed by glands keratinocytes. The hormone detected glandular tissues western blot, being slightly bigger than synthetic peptide, indicating a posttranslational modification. localized using immunohistochemistry immunofluorescence. Staining observed near nuclei ducts acini. There no correlation between from matched saliva serum healthy volunteers. physiological cavity investigated incubating buccal keratinocytes with measurement bromodeoxyuridine (BrDU) assays. significant, dose dependent increase (up 5-fold; p<0.001) BrDU incorporation after stimulation (1.5 50 ng/mL). antibacterial properties studied incubation Gram+ Gram- bacteria yeast, isolated human flora, (0.01-1000 ng/mL) 24 h. Bacterial growth inhibited dependently (p<0.001), whereas yeast not affected. This finding consistent when radial inhibition test on agarose plates as well photometric microtiter plates. Our findings suggest an important health, involved anti-bacterial defense.
