摘要: Background Escherichia coli can experience a multifaceted life, in some cases acting as commensal while other causing intestinal and/or extraintestinal disease. Several studies suggest enteroaggregative E. are the predominant cause of coli-mediated diarrhea developed world and second only to Campylobacter sp. bacterial-mediated diarrhea. Furthermore, persistent developing where infection has been associated with malnourishment growth retardation. Methods In this study we determined complete genomic sequence 042, prototypical member coli, which shown disease volunteer studies. We performed phylogenetic comparisons strains revealing previously uncharacterised virulence factors including variety secreted proteins capsular polysaccharide biosynthetic locus. In addition, by using Biolog™ Phenotype Microarrays have provided full metabolic profiling 042 non-pathogenic lab strain K-12. highlighted genetic basis for many differences between K-12. Conclusion This provides context vast amount experimental epidemiological data published thus far template future diagnostic intervention strategies.
