摘要: Abstract Simple repetitive tracts of DNA are unstable in all organisms thus far examined. In the yeast S. cerevisiae, we show that a 51 by poly(GT) tract alters length at rate about 10 −5 per cell division. Insertion single variant repeat (either AT or CT) into middle results 100-fold stabilization. This stabilization requires mismatch repair system. Alterations within with repeats occur more frequently on one side interruption than other. The stabilizing effects and polarity alterations have also been observed trinucleotide associated certain human diseases.
