Magneto-optical properties of Sc-substituted dysprosium iron garnet single crystals

摘要: Faraday rotation measurements were performed at 1152-nm wavelength in the 6-600 K temperature range under a magnetic field up to 20 kOe applied parallel [111], [110], and [100] crystallographic axes of "as-grown" Dy/sub 3/Fe/sub 5-z/Sc/sub z/O/sub 12/(z=0.58) (DyIG:Sc) single crystals. A strong anisotropy both spontaneous FR susceptibility is observed below 100 K; it not uniquely tied one. The experimental data are analyzed using one-ion model. octahedral scandium substitution affects primarily N/sub dc/ interactions between (d) {c} sublattices as compared pure DyIG. variations electric dipole transitions coefficient Dy/sup 3+/ ion found identical when T>150 DyIG DyIG:Sc.
