By electron microscopy, particle found to be spherical enveloped, measuring 45-55 nm diameter containing 30-35 nucleocapsid. Only minor antigenic differences were between Danish Dutch isolate. Following intranasal 3 pregnant gilts transplacental infection demonstrated re-isolation approximately 45% piglets experimentally infected gilts.
