‘Committed, motivated and joyful?’ Job satisfaction and organisational commitment of managers at a South African public utility

摘要: Objective: This study focuses on an assessment of managerial job satisfaction and commitment in the context a vibrant rapidly changing public utility from positive organisational behaviour (POB) perspective. It aims at contributing towards in-depth understanding micro-organisational behaviour. Problem investigated: The aim this was to gain deeper insights into relationship between (JS) (OC) terms ‘how why’ selected Eastern Cape Province. Design: single case uses mixed-method approach within pragmatism research paradigm. Findings: Findings show that managers across cultures share psychology JS OC. is mainly influenced by their with working colleagues supervisors, strategies motivation, as well dissatisfaction use power, pay promotion. OC collegial relationships, organisation’s influence environment others, enabling work location organisation. Originality/value: article introduces new ideas reconstructs image South African based qualitative quantitative data. Conclusion: shows post-modern organisations are opening frontiers building positive-oriented whilst creating constructive future-orientated mindsets, which may spill over society.
