Targeted retrograde gene delivery for neuronal protection

摘要: Methods are disclosed for transducing neurons with heterologous genes using retrograde viral transport. The methods employ substantially non-toxic vectors, such as adeno-associated virus that capable of axonal transport to introduce and express in the neurons. This method has applications mapping neural pathways, stimulating or inhibiting growth neurons, treatment various neurodegenerative diseases Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
