摘要: Most alfalfa seed is treated with the fungicide mefenoxam (Apron XL) for control of soilborne seedling diseases caused by Phytophthora medicaginis and Pythium spp. However, Apron XL not active against Aphanomyces euteiches, causal agent root rot (ARR), an important component complex. Moreover, XL-treated cannot be used in organic production systems. A coating using aluminosilicate (natural zeolite) at a rate 0.33 g zeolite per gram was tested as treatment. Inoculated growth chamber trials were conducted to determine percentage seedlings protected from (PRR) ARR. The mineral resulted significantly greater PRR, mean 89% healthy (disease score 1 or 2 on 1-to-5 scale) compared treatment, 38% seedlings, 15% seedlings. coatin...
