摘要: The New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) scale is a commonly used tool to investigate the degree of ecocentricity participants, i.e. extent which they endorse pro-nature views. Here we as part formative research for conservation project aimed at persuading land use planning stakeholders associated with municipalities priority maps produced by planners. In order assess its capacity differentiate between groups according their ecocentricity, applied NEP 53 participants comprising 16 officials responsible issues and 37 locally elected councilors (politicians) from South African municipalities. We also Inclusion Nature in Self (INS) – single-item graphic measure our sample who all hold anti-conservation views, explore connectedness nature. scores were effective differentiating officials, people Xhosa other cultural groups, suggesting that has good potential component social assessment projects. found little concordance INS scales, owing largely mostly scored low former, high latter scale. recommend both scales assessments projects multi-cultural contexts.
