摘要: Abstract The shape of a frustum is bivariate function aspect ratio (w) and base radii (c). To investigate the influences on packing density frustums, random packings cones (c = 0), truncated cylinders (c = 1) with various heights diameters are studied through numerical simulations. An improved relaxation algorithm assembly sphere models for non-spherical particles applied in simulations, randomness frustums considered verified. Base simulation results, relationship between parameters illustrated, an empirical formula proposed to reflect correlation. It shows that, having same w, can be packed denser than cones, but looser cylinders. first increases then decreases growth while monotonically increase c. No obvious peak found curve versus c which different from reported results ordered where was identified. Furthermore, we observe that linear superposition effect w effect, effects treated independently. optimal ratios give highest densities, all around 0.8. densities also upper lower bound cones.
