摘要: Abstract Stanniocalcin (STC) is a homodimeric glycoprotein hormone implicated in calcium and phosphate regulation both teleost fish mammals. In the present study, immunostaining with salmon STC antiserum demonstrated that cells were localized corpuscles of Stannius (CS) specific distal renal tubules silver arawana, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum , an ancient ray-finned (actinoptergian) basal (Order Osteoglossiforme). The morphology these STC-immunoreactive kidney was similar to ‘chloride’ (mitochondrial-rich) cells. immunoreactive two three other osteoglossiformes absent gar, nonteleost actinopterygian eel, another teleost. arawana cDNA encodes prehormone 249 amino acids (aa) signal peptide 31 aa mature protein 218 aa. deduced sequence shows 54–66% identity STCs 51–52% mammalian STC-1. contains ten cysteines, compared 11 cysteine substitution occurs at site inter-monomeric disulfide linkage. Western blot analysis revealed single 21 kDa band under non-reducing conditions, 25 reducing conditions. These data indicate exists as monomeric peptide. Northern detected 3.3 kb mRNA confined CS, no hybridization either remaining or gut, muscle, brain heart. significance Osteoglossiforme species requires further investigation. This first report form any vertebrate evidence adult fish.
