摘要: Isotope uptake during static radionuclide scanning and contrast enhancement CT scanning, which may result from similar pathophysiologic mechanisms after ischemic infarction, were investigated in an animal model. Infarction was produced by transorbital occlusion of the middle cerebral artery cats killed one, 2, 4, 8, or 16 days later. Sodium pertechnetate containing technetium-99m 30% methylglucamine iothalamate labeled with I-125 administered intravenously 60 15 min respectively prior to sacrifice. A coronal section through infarct parceled into 30 portions assayed for concentration each isotope. Adjacent brain prepared histopathologic correlation. Concentrations 2 materials highest infarcted at 4 8 days. Strong positive correlation found between tissue concentrations all samples. Elevated levels correlated necrosis, macrophage infiltration, vascular hyperplasia. The results support probability that scan positivity reflect same development, probably extravasation respective labels, stroke.
