摘要: Abstract The dynamic fragmentation of granite at impact energies 6–28 J is examined in this paper. Results indicate that more dense materials, or those with a higher quartz content, produce less fractured mass, and have larger dominant fragment sizes smaller aspect ratios their probability distributions. Values the peaks size distributions are agreement theoretical predictions. Examination fracture surfaces reveals information concerning transgranular cracking, crack bifurcation mechanisms evidence comminution sub-micron K-feldspar plagioclase fragments. Fractal dimensions cumulative distribution were ≃2, indicating was mechanism these tests. Peaks fragments on reveal limit coherent approximately 0.60 μm for K-feldspar. smallest found 0.30 μm considered to be materials.
