摘要: Abstract Biofouling is a long-standing problem in membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for domestic wastewater treatment because it deteriorates permeability, thus demanding frequent chemical cleaning which can shorten life-time. Recently, several anti-biofouling strategies have been suggested under scientific and engineered attentions from aerobic or anaerobic MBR systems. Nevertheless, researches are still needed to better understand biofouling develop novel approaches control this inevitable phenomenon. In review, recent advances emerging issues associated with technologies critically discussed. Existing challenges future research perspectives also addressed achieve sustainability control. This suggests that integration of hybrid approach could effectively enhance performance terms mitigation. Future works should elucidate behavior integrated MBRs more clearly sustainable applications.
