摘要: Abstract Eighty-six hypertensive patients were treated with pindolol, a beta-adrenergic blocking drug intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. To evaluate the interactions between beta-blockade, activity, and level of pretreatment sympathetic blood pressure, heart rate, forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV 1 ) examined before during 15-week treatment program. The response relatively higher tone reflected by resting rate equal to or greater than 80 beats per minute (Group I) was compared lower (less minute) II). Decreases mean pressure similar two groups. In Group I, net effect pindolol modest decrease FEV supporting concept that when is high, beta-blocking dominant. contrast, II showed little change treatment, reflecting balance activity effects pindolol. Thus, physiologically evident, relative impact dependent on tone.
