Summary: One hundred isolates of seven Candida species and three Saccharomyces cerevisiae were plated on phloxine B agar examined for variations in the morphology or colour colonies that developed. Colony found 9 12 C. parapsilosis isolates, 8 13 tropicalis 4 krusei 30 albicam isolates. None 23 glabrata grew test medium. Variant often generated further different colony forms secondary subculture. The rate production fimbriate rhizoid by two varied with thickness nutrient content These results suggest variation is a common property among many strict control medium composition essential reproducible screening variations.
